Welcome to the Asheville Jewish community, one of the most unique in America. Here, in the buckle of the Bible Belt, Asheville is now home to more than 1,300 Jewish families, two synagogues, a Chabad, and Jewish Family Services. We are the smallest Jewish community in America to support a Jewish Community Center. We support learning on all levels through the UNCA Center for Jewish Studies, the Center for Diversity Education, Maccabi Academy, an active Hadassah chapter, a strong Jewish Federation, and a Jewish pre-school, rated one of the top daycare programs of any kind in the region.

The Jewish community in Asheville traces its roots back over 200 years. In that time, we've grown rich in talent, commitment, and achievement. We are a community that cultivates Jewish camps and elderhostels, establishes organizations dedicated to cultural diversity and spiritual enrichment. A vibrant community set against the backdrop of what many call one of the best places in America to live.

The hallmark of our community is the spirit of collaboration that permeates virtually every Jewish organization. We truly are a family of unique individuals working towards a collective vision. There is no better proof than the Asheville Jewish Leadership Collaborative. For more information on this unique initiative, click here.
